(3 October 1990, Zboriv, Ternopil Region – 12 January 2025, near the village of Yampil, Lyman Territorial Community, Kramatorsk District, Donetsk Region, buried on 16 January 2025 in his hometown) – Ukrainian military officer, captain, assistant commander of the artillery battalion of the 55th Separate Rifle Battalion, 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade. He graduated from TNEU in 2013 with a degree in finance.
Volodymyr was born on 3 October 1990 in Zboriv.
After graduating from the Roman Zavadovych State Ukrainian Gymnasium in Zboriv in 2008, he continued his studies at Ternopil National Economic University. Completing the military department of TNEU, he received an officer’s rank and took an oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine.
In 2014, when hostilities began in eastern Ukraine, Volodymyr stood up to defend his homeland, serving in the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade.
In June 2022, he returned to the front, initially as commander of the mortar unit of the 55th Separate Rifle Battalion, where his platoon defended the outskirts of Kyiv, in particular Borodianka and Ivankiv. Later, from January 2023, Volodymyr and his comrades took part in the fiercest battles in eastern Ukraine, from Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast to Spirne in Donetsk Oblast, as part of the 54th Separate Mechanised Brigade.
In April 2024, Volodymyr was appointed deputy commander and chief of artillery of the 55th separate rifle battalion of the 63rd separate mechanised brigade. He was a highly skilled professional, capable of organising fire strikes that effectively repelled enemy assaults, allowing the infantry to carry out their tasks and prevent the enemy from consolidating their positions.
On 12 January 2025, while performing a combat mission, Volodymyr was killed near the village of Yampil in Donetsk Oblast. A direct hit by a Russian FPV drone on the vehicle in which Volodymyr was travelling with his comrades took the lives of everyone in the vehicle, including the commander of the 55th Separate Rifle Battalion, Major Mykhailo Koval, and the driver, Senior Soldier Roman Stashchuk.
Volodymyr is remembered as a true leader, professional and a devoted personality of his country.
The soldier was awarded:
– the Commander’s Distinction ‘For Conscientious Service’;
– the Cross of Honour and Glory;
– the title of ‘Honorary Citizen of Ternopil Region’ (2025, posthumously).
